Semi -permanent make-up is also known as medical tattooing and can bring significant benefits to people who have been through breast reconstruction surgery or a mastectomy. Areola reconstruction and scar camouflaging are two of the most popular breast treatments; helping both men and women regain confidence.
I am registered BUPA and also work closely with local hospitals. I run a monthly clinic for hospital patients and provide my medical tattooing at a greatly reduced rate. Please contact me for more information and clinic dates (there may be a waiting list)
Areola Reconstruction, which is also known as Nipple and Areola Tattooing, is an effective treatment which creates a natural looking areola area to help improve the appearance of your breast following reconstruction surgery after a mastectomy. Clients I have treated tell me that this semi-permanent treatment instantly helps them feel normal again and re-builds self-confidence.
I have been trained by Caron Vetter, one of the first people in the UK to perform Areola Reconstruction and an expert in this field. The technique used is the same as that used in other semi-permanent treatments. The areola area is tattooed using a shading technique to create a natural looking areola and a nipple, which is 3-D in appearance.
The colours used will be carefully selected to match your pigmentation and this is something we will chat through during your initial consultation.
The treatment is carried out over two appointments, approximately 4 – 6 weeks apart. Each treatment takes between 60 – 75 minutes. I will talk you through the simple after-care instructions so you know exactly what you need to do to look after the treated area.
Nipple and Areola Tattooing usually lasts longer than other semi-permanent treatments as the area is not exposed to the elements. The pigmentation will fade over time, but for some people it can last up to 18 months.
One of my clients has kindly told us about how she felt after having the treatment and you can read about her experience in our blog.
Scarring following breast reconstruction surgery can leave a life-long memory of a procedure which many people just want to forget. Medical tattooing around the scarred area improves the appearance of any scarring. Using pigmentation to match your natural skin tone, the scar is camouflaged by the semi-permanent make-up treatment
For the same reason as Nipple and Areola Tattooing, scar camouflaging around the breast area usually lasts longer than other semi-permanent treatments as the area is hidden from the elements. The pigmentation will fade over time, but for some people it can last up to 18 months.
